    Acronym expansion question.

    Hi. Regarding Acronym expansion, I never knew that I could hyperlink keywords with that feature. I thought it was more an acronym replacement but not with urls. Anyway, my question is, can a phrase be hyperlinked with that feature?

    For example:

    'Vbseo is great' => 'http://www.vbseo.com'

    Yes, I could try it but I just don't want to mess anything up so I'm asking first. Thanks for your time.

    Hello,

    Yes, it can, but please note that you have to select using "REPLACE acronyms as expanded text" as the Acronym Expansion.

    Thanks Andres. I'm glad to know that more than 1 keyword, a phrase can be hyperlinked. I tried hyperlinking one keyword and it did just fine but it doesn't look like a link, you know, NOT underlined. Could this be done? If it can be done, how would you do in on this example below:

    'Vbseo is great' => 'http://www.vbseo.com'

    Usually a hyperlinked keyword is underlined to identify it as a link . How can I do that with acronym replacement in the example below. Does it support bbcode or anything?

    'Vbseo is great' => 'http://www.vbseo.com'

    The hyperlinked keyword is not underlined in the posts after using this feature.

    Because you had to change the acronym expansion to "REPLACE acronyms as expanded text" in order to get acronyms hyperlinked. The underlined keyword only appears if you use "ADD 'abbr' html tag to acronyms" or "ADD 'acronym' html tag to acronyms". You can't use both hyperlinked and underlined keyword acronyms at the same time.

    Not sure I understood your post. I chose "REPLACE acronyms as expanded text" and the keyword was hyperlinked but not underlined as it was supposed to. Does this feature support bbcode?

    As I said, the underlined keyword only appears if you use "ADD 'abbr' html tag to acronyms" or "ADD 'acronym' html tag to acronyms".

    So this feature is useless then. How are users supposed to know that the hyperlinked keyword are actually hyperlinked?

    We built the feature according to HTML standards. You can't use 'abbr' or 'acronym' html tags within links using vBSEO acronym expansion feature, unless you allow posting HTML.

    I know it is not recommended but can you tell me exactly where to change that "allow html" setting? Seen many in vbulletin and don't know exactly which to change.

    You should need to edit a sub-forum through AdminCP -> Forums & Moderators -> Forum Manager, and look for "Allow HTML" setting under 'Enable / Disable Features' section.

    You can customize the look of link replacements easily with vBSEO. You can define a class name for replacement format and add desired css doe for the urls. Example can be checked on Pink Floyd look for keyword Pink Floyd

    You can customize Auto Link format within vBSEO Cp > General Settings > vBSEO Options > Advanced Settings > Acronym Autolink Format
