Has anyone had any success making old links work with a converted phpBB3 forum that was previously running phpBBSEO optimisations?

I did on my old forum, but have since deleted the rewrite rules, I think all I did was add + edit the htaccess rules the from phpbb seo script, so it redirects the seo phpbb to the old phpbb, then to the old phpbb to the vb.

Also would like to add this is the second time I've used this script, it is a LIFE SAVER.

Say I have forum1.com and want to import it into forum2.com can this redirect the URL's?

Forum1.com is a PHPBB forum and Forum2.com is vBulletin with vBseo.

    Hello,

You will need to rewrite your seo product back to stock IPB urls. Perhaps their support forums can assist you with this.

Then, you can use the ipb version of our script.

I knew I could do that, but with a large forum that will take time. Search engines also may not like all the 301 redirects, and URL changes. Would have been much cleaner to go from one to the other. Thanks for the reply.

No. The 301 is applied later in the script, thus if you add it into the htaccess, you end up with a double 301 which most se's won't follow.

    Thank you Mert.

Do I put the htaccess and Php file at my old domain or new? (I'm assuming the old domain. But I'm a noon at redirects)

Does this script also redirect the forumhome page? (index.php)

This script is perfect. Thank you.

This script should have been used on the same domain name both times.

using a new domain name, you will need to add another step on the old domain to redirect it all to the new domain.

assuming the same structure on the new site, you can simply use the same rules as offered on the non-www to www redirect supplied in the htaccess.

so, the old domain should have newdomain in the htaccess (if not newdomain, direct to new domain)
