in vbseocp.php, your key should appear in the top right corner of the control panel. Copy that into the box above and click save.

Did you download the patch or a full version upgrade? The patch doesn't require any upgrade process other than FTP'ing the new files.

Open a ticket with ftp, admincp, and vbseocp access and we can fix this for you.

No, 3.0 and 3.1 have reached end of life a long time ago and are no longer supported. The Minimum version we support is 3.2

that's what I surmised from your page full of older unsupported versioins.

regardless, it's pretty scary that an update could even clobber the vbadmin panel.

your upgrade instructions are simple and straight forward and I followed them perfectly.

I'm dismayed they clobbered my live site.

brian my biggest concern right ow is being hacked due to the vulnerability.

can I turn of vbseo on my forum without ill effects?

do I also have to remove the htaccess file with it's rewrite rules when I do this?

    here's my file
    ############

    RewriteBase /forums/
    RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} (admincp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1 [L]

    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !vbseourl=
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !chat
    RewriteRule ^(.*\.php)$ vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

    RewriteRule ^(archive/.*)$ vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule ^(.+)$ vbseo.php?vbseourl=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [L]

Turning it off will not stop the hack as the files are still on the server. If you wish to disable vbseo, you must completely remove all the files from the vbseo package. instructions here:

You should use the first rule set. threadid-threadname.html matches your thread rewrites.
