are 301's really a good idea? i don't think so.

I've run this software since whatever my join date is here and I am still getting no SE referrals to my newly formatted form adresses, and a lot of SE referrals to the original formatted addresses.

I'm beginning to contemplate taking the 301 completely off.

My site always has google and yahoo spiders on it and it's as if the search engines don't account for the new address if they come across a 301.

anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Dont rely on google to update page locations just yet because it has bigger fish to fry...... like sorting it's broken index out.

Re: are 301's really a good idea? i don't think so.

ok this is weird. i have a google analytics account and my server uses urchin ( which is what google analytics is based on, except ga logs are more client side related )

urchin shows no referrals going to my new addresses, and ga shows lots.

i guess for some reason the apache logs are logging the real pages after the re-write stuff resolves.

i guess we can disregard this post.
