3.3.1 htaccess files - which are needed?

Hi all - the .htaccess folder in the latest download has many files. Are some of these optional? They are not explained in the readme. Do I add ones I need to the .htaccess file?

For instance, I have xCache - is lighttpd_rewrite for that?

    Thanks in advance..

You only need the 1 file for your web server. xcache is not a web server

if you're on apache, you need the .htaccess file
the htaccess.txt is the same thing, but some ftp clients hide "." files, so its offered as a txt file too, but needs to be renamed to .htaccess once uploaded.

Likely, if you're on 3.3.0, you don't need to alter the htaccess file at all. What you already have running will work.

What are these extra files then? I am still confused...

    cherokee.txt
    isapi_rewrite.txt
    isapi_rewrite2.txt
    lighttpd_rewrite.txt
    nginx.txt
    web.config
    zeus_rewrite.txt

Those are different web servers. most people use apache on linux. If you don't know what the other is, odds are you AREN'T using it, as it would require custom configuration most likely as 99% of linux hosting companies use apache.

IIS uses the isapi filter, and so on.
3reef is on apache 2 so you just need the htaccess file (again, you liekly already have this in place from vbseo 3.3.0)

xcache is simply an opcode cache. it's NOT your webserver software. You are right that the makers are the same as light httpd.
