How'd you manage to get Jelsoft to agree to let you use their Trademark in your domain name, especially given that you are competing with them, service-wise?

They rebuffed me quite sternly when I approached them.

I do not have the specifics, but I don't see Jelsoft give permission to sites who use vBulletin in their domain; this to protect their interest. Especially sites that are a direct competition with Jelsoft. For example with vBulletin fans network that I run I've made a gentleman's agreement. The site is still down, I can't establish how much it would be worth; very little details - and it feels really risky to pay for it and not get the owned license immediately.

I didnt realize vBulletin offered modification installations and support, so i dont consider myself competition.

I agree, but there are many other sites out there that utilize the vBulletin name in their own domains as well.

The site is back online now, I have a vBulletin liscense that would be eligible for transfer pending aprovement from Jelsoft, but i'd have to switch all the files so that the liscense numbers wouldnt be revoked.

Hmmm.

Is your license leased or bought? If owned, I'll give you $50 for it.

He mentions it is Owned in the first post...if it is leased, it cannot be transferred anyway.

As owner of the vb fans network I might have an interest in the pimp vb database, domain and owned license. This to help grow our network. Our site is not commercial. So I can't offer much. The domain has vbulletin in it. I am not sure how that can be commercially sold - benefitting from the 'vb' in the name. So I am also not sure how much I want to pay for that. How much the sql dump is worth is also unknown to me, how many threads/posts/users again?

http://www.pimpvbulletin.com/ has PageRank 0/10.

Hm.

Right now I would only be interested in the vb license.

How does $100 for the whole thing sound?
