Vibrant media late and withholding payments

I use vibrant media on one of my websites, well up until I received this notice this morning. This makes it increasing difficult to make payments to suppliers on time anymore.

With current uncertainty surrounding the timing and eventuality of Chrysler creditor payments, and per our GAAP accounting standards, we will not be recognizing advertising revenue for Chrysler during the month of March, consequently we will be temporarily withholding March revenues that relate specifically to Chrysler advertising run on your sites in March 2009.

Over the coming weeks we will be recognizing Chrysler revenue on a cash basis as and when payment is received by Vibrant Media. As Chrysler revenue is recognized payment will be made to publishers immediately upon its receipt.


Below is a reconciliation of your March payment and the unrecognized Chrysler revenue:

Chrysler Revenue: $ 1,133

Recognized Revenue: $ 524

Talk about screwing people ... Isn`t that a bit illegal ? You signup for a service, serve ads on your website, get money, but then they won`t give it to you because one of their advertisers is going bankrupt ? ....

Still no payments from Vibrant media. I used the contact form on their website on 6/16 and 7/1 and received no response from their support staff. I suspect the titanic is adrift.

i just started using picad media, an in-picture advertising technology that lets ads appear in images on my sites when a user rolls his or her mouse over the images. it doesn't mess up the image properties or copyright laws and has generated a lot of additional revenue. i've found it to be a lot less obtrusive than vibrant media because the ads only take up 5% of the bottom of the image in a small gray box and peel down when a user rolls their mouse away. the clickthrough rate is still really high and my payments to suppliers are always on time

Interesting the only thing i've notice from vibrant media is my income dropping DRASTICALLY goodd 50%.....

50% - that's crazy! i made the switch to picad media about two months ago. their click thru rates are about .3% which is something like 50% higher than the ctr's for banner ads. you get paid through either pay pal or by check and i haven't had any problems so far...

I'll sit tight and see how this one goes...

I've never had any problems with vibrant media. I think it's quite a common practice that if the advertiser doesn't pay the network then the network cannot pass on the revenue to the publisher. It hardly ever happens though.
