Using Adsense through Google Ad Manager

Is anyone using adsense with Google Ad Manager?

Does it work the same? I notice that you can open adsense clicks in a new window, does this affect the PPC?

    Overall would you recommend it?

I recently started using GAM and it's been really working nicely together with Adsense.

Interesting, I hadn't heard about this until I read this thread. It's googles version of phpAds/OpenX only you don't have to host it yourself. hmmm, seems pretty cool IMOP.

I may have to give it a shot.

It took a little time getting used to it as well as configuring things correctly but once I got things running it's a breeze.

The great thing about it is that I was able to get rid of a dedicated server I was using as an ad server. Since Google is hosting and tracking the ads, we save on bandwidth and our databases are also working much quicker now that they're not being read from and to a zillion times oer minute.

    And it's all FREE!

The only downside to using GAM is that you have to manually set up advertisers and advertisers can't self service their creatives and account, they can only view stats etc.

They have an html generator that does this all for you. Basically you just add all your ad spots in your header and a tiny snippet of cose for each ad location within your templates.

It's simple if all your serving is one unit. The 'passback' stuff is still highly confusing to me.

and by 'get it' i meant understand it, not login in

When I get some additional time I'm going to dig in and see if I can't implement it on one of my sites that I currently don't use any ad management software on. My main site is running OpenX, and migrating that will be a little more fun than I think I can handle at this point. Besides I want to make sure it's what I really want and will do what I want before making the plunge completely.

However, getting the DB off my server, and located on a Google server seems like a no brainer.

Does anyone else get that little tingle on the back of your neck when thinking about how much data I'm allowing Google to collect about me and my business? Just the conspiricy theorist in me coming out... I don't usually let it stop me though
