Text indexing

Hello,

Does google index image's "alt" text? My forum descriptions are actually images and I use $forum[description] to add the text-formed description to each image's "alt". Can google works with this and also, can I in any way make Google AdSense sense that "alt" text?

Thanks.

No. alt text is for browsers with images disabled.

look into one of the many image replacement techniques using CSS.

I don't understand why you're refeering to an image replacement guide, please explain how that could help me. Anyway, couldn't I just put all the description together with a 1px ( or even 0px? would that work? ) font-size somewhere on the page so AdSense and search engines could read it? That seems pretty legitimate to me, but would Google accept it? It's pretty bad that Google can't read the descriptions.

Alt text is taken into consideration for ranking. Why did you convert your forum descriptions to images?

It looks very good, that's the only reason. I'm afraid AdSense can't read the alt text though, so do you think I could do what I described above your reply?

I would change it back. You can change the look of the text using CSS to get something that looks good.

I think it wouldn't be very easy, I guess you mean something like creating a frame around the text, right? I suppose I might consider it sometime soon. Right now I'm wondering if it'd be dangerous for my AdSense account if I'd do what I described above. Do you understand what I mean in that message?

I think it would be safe for you to do. Try it, monitor the results for 2 days. If you notice any negative impact, change it back.

Yes, I think it'll try it. It should do the same as having text-formatted descriptions. Don't want to get banned by AdSense though, heard if was pretty common.

I cannot imagine why you would get banned from AdSense. The only possible negative outcome would be reduced ad revenue, and that's very unlikely.

CTRL + A? I don't understand. Are you trying to use hidden text, or ALT text?

I have the descriptions in images' alt. I mean that I have all the descriptions, hidden using a font size of one pixel. All the descriptions together are located on the bottom of the page in black font color. You said this was allowed right :P ( CTRL + A for select all so you can see them ).

I obviously did not understand what you were suggesting.

Do not use hidden text via tiny font, or font set to the same color as the background. Strong advisory: Remove this asap.
