All the commissions seen on the publisher interface are the values you earn after our commission has been taken. Publishers earn 75% of the total commission we receive from the networks, moving up to 85% depending on total revenue in a month. A full breakdown is given in our terms of service. However, it's worth noting that with many merchants, we are on higher tiers than publishers may be able to achieve on their own. Consequently, with particular merchants you may even be able to earn higher revenues with us that you might doing it yourself, despite out cut.

We are planning to implement the display of commission values in the merchant list, so you will have visibility of potential earnings ahead of time. We hope to have this functionality available soon.

As ever, thanks for the great feedback!

There seems to be around 7-10 days delay in indexing some articles now, whereas previously, for the last few months, everything was going well. I also did a couple of test sales myself, but they aren't showing up either.

I emailed Mark on Monday, but I've had no response as yet.

Anyone else experiencing any oddness with this?

Can't fault them. The first payment takes a month longer than a normal affiliate network (as they wait for cleared funds), but take enough to pay for one of my server just on SkimLinks alone, so well chuffed

A comment came up today on Techcrunch where this thread was referenced (Skimlinks launches SkimWords to turn more links into an affiliate revenue opportunity).

@woostar (and others), how has skimlinks worked for you so far?

After being accepted in April 09, May 2010 saw our first payment of £64. Better than nothing, but not a great money spinner for us, even considering the nature of our forums (PC gear).

The main concern that I've had was that I'd watched our earnings grow to reasonable amounts and then a couple of months later it would show much less. Similarly, one day we might have £45 in earnings, and then the following day it might be at £26. Also, some things that were 100% valid transactions (at least from our end) did not ever arrive as earnings. Not sure why, and neither were Skimlinks.

Thee problems we had with SEO deteriorating seemed to right themselves.

Still can't fault them. I now more than cover the cost of 2 highend servers (+ one mid range) just using Skimlinks (never noticed any reversed transaction).

I've applied for the skimwords beta. I'm not sure how other niches work, but in mine I think it would work better with store names, rather than product names (we often get store names mentioned but with no link).

Definately recommend them. Will let you know if I get accepted on the beta and how it goes (Mark, if you read this, '375X590' )

LOL, just noticed my comments on page 1 of this thread have been slightly misrepresented in a reply on techcrunch. I was referring to asking for members opinions (no cohesion involved... in fact if anything it could go the the opposite way. It's not we can control forum members at the best of times LOL). By 'spam' I probably meant 'effort' or, would it be just as worthwhile deeplinking affiliate links on opinion threads (bearing in mind the post was made just after I signing up, and as I was getting my head round the Skimlink concept). Since that post I have made zero "spam" threads and made quite a bit passive revenue (enough to afford the above), without trying.

Will have to comment on it tomorrow (bit late here now)

@Dave-M thanks for your comment, the nature of affiliate can mean that revenues fluctuate. We're confident we're tracking every possible sale, and are looking at extra checks/safeguards to ensure merchants are reporting sales correctly for our publishers. SkimWords could definitely help lift your revenues, PC gear is a great niche for this. Out of interest, are you using our vBulletin plugin?

@woostar, no probs about the TC comment, seems it was taken out of context, really happy that Skimlinks is working well for you. I'll definitely get Mark to get you on SkimWords pronto

If anyone else is interested in the SkimWords beta, please DM me and I'll try to get your application fast-tracked. We're rolling out tech/AV first, then automotive, then other sectors.

Hi, skim employees, I'm having a little trouble with skimwords.

Its been enabled and ive updated my code but no skimwords appear on my site or in my reporting.

    I also get this message in the control panel;

If you would like to enable SkimWords, you will need to update your Skimlinks code. Once the new code is installed, you will be able to customize SkimWords to suit your site.

I'd love some help asap, I'm keen to get using this new product.

    Thanks.
