Unfortunately, even with the setting switched on and off, I still get ads that are nothing really to do with the forums.

I just enabled the vbseo setting and the banner for the main index was "get a greater body this winter!" and pics of some women doing aerobics!

The general-chat forum seemed to be the one most affected by the gay ads, so I renamed it to general stuff! (as some of the ads were gay chat), and now we seem to have computer related ads in genral stuff!.

It seems to be the banner ads that are the problem. I will change to all text ads and see if that helps.

    Thanks
If I'm not mistaken, it will take the proper ads to show up about 24 hours or so after you enable the targeting...so you just have to wait for the adsense bot to do its thing and hopefully they will send proper ads.

Also, check your source code on your site to make sure the adsense targeting codes are in the right places. Sometimes if you code something incorrectly, the target code will show up in a place that you do not want it to show up at.

    Thanks jbartle,

I only have two bits of adsense code added, and they are in the header and footer.

Another strage thing just happened. The text ads in the footer changed to a pretty decent looking flash ad for tony hawk's proving ground. Nice ad though, but I chose the text ads in case the gay ads returned.

I was talking about the adsense targeting code. You should view the page source to make sure its in the right place. One time I had mine showing up in my metatags

Anyways, whats the link to this site you are talking about?

    My site? It's here.

Ads seem to be behaving, so I'll leave them for the night.

    Thanks for the help

One thing you need to work on:
    Code:
    <meta name="keywords" content="forum,forums,overclocking,overclocking guide,guide,guides,overclockers,overclocked,overclock,over clock,over clocking,over clockers,C2D,core 2 duo,quad,quad core,core 2 quad,c2q,clunk,clunk's guide,hexus,support forum,support forums,clunk,over-clock,over-clocked,over-clocking,over clock,over clocking,over clocker,over clocks,over-clocks,p95,965,p35,975x,x38,680i,quad,quad core,dual core,quad-core,q6600,qx6700,qx6800" />
That's way to many keywords. and you dont need to use forum and forums.

I can tell you that you don't have your adsense ad targeting enabled in your vbseocp.

I would highly recommend viewing some topics on how to optimize vbulletin, b/c I see you have your css inline...you need to have that moved to external files (which the optimization guides talk about).

Then I would also recommend doing the html code cleanup; it's an option at the bottom of vbseo.

I do have the adsense targeting enabled in vbseo.

I wasnt aware that I could have too many keywords. Those keywords appear to be working though, but obviously, it it can be improved on, then I'm all ears

I managed to screw something up last night and the forum titles and thread titles are now centred when using IE, but not in firefox.

I have only been into the header and the footer to do the ads, so must be something there, but I dont know what :(

I will try the html cleanup that you suggested, thanks

Edit: although it says "NOTE: If comments (or HTML tags) within your pages are not closed correctly with their corresponding end tags, then this option could cause your pages to display incorrectly. Be sure that your templates contain error free HTML tags and code."

So I'd better fix the centering issue first?

Yes, fix centering issue first. Sounds like you didn't close your center tag in your header to me.

And yes, you are only suppose to have 20 keywords I believe. Anything more is keyword "spam"...which google doesn't like.

When I looked at your source, I didn't see your adsense targetting code so I didn't think you had it enabled. I still don't see it but you also aren't showing any ads...but I believe it should still show up despite that.

Thanks for the info on the keywords

I'm well and truly stumped on the centering thing. I've replaced the header and footer templates with the original code that came with the skin, but no luck, so, can editing the header or footer cause something else to be permanently changed?

I think its probably one for the vbulletin forums, sorry for going off topic

I am ready to show the proof to this vbseo administrators if requested via PM or direct post...

    hello briansol,
I meant there are couple of high traffic sites which show following.
    4 leaderboard adsense units + 1 skyscraper + 1 single ad-unit + 1 link-unit

they are displaying 6 ad-units in all although only 3 ad-units are allowed.

Adsense will not show 4 leaderboard ads, 1 skyscraper ad, and 1 single ad unit on the same page, even if you try it. It would only show 3 total, and would just ignore the others.
