    Thumbs up My adsense modifications

    Hi

Over the last year I have taken a lot of time to experiment with various adsense placements on my forum.

I finally found the placements I currently have on my site Patientenfragen.net - Für Patienten mit medizinischen Fragen to be the most successful.

For anyone who is interested in my placements, I have published them on vBulletin.org.

    Here they are:

Adsense as second post. 2 Sizes - Big for guests, small for members

Adsense as second post. 2 Sizes - Big for guests, small for members - Legacy Version

    Adsense Link Unit in Navbar

Adsense linkunit below the last thread

Adsense above quickreply - 2 layout versions

I have also released another modification to increase registrations:

Remove statistic information to increase registrations

one to make navigating threads easier:

"To the top" link in every reply

    and a few others:

    Simple Category Icons
Forum Images next to the Description for every Forum

    I hope you like them.

    Feedback is welcome

I could have sworn that have the ad unit in the navbar was against their TOS. Some people get warned about it when they ask google to look, others just slide by. I think it's a matter of luck whether google will say it's good or not.

I might just have to try some of these out.

Also, try to remove your pub id from your posts on vb.org...

It is hard to messure because my registration rate is climbing all the time,
but as far as I can tell I think it helped, at least a little

It is good for seo too because it removes unnecessary information so you don't have much to lose anyway

Very nice, do you know to make the ads display on the right side of the first post?

hmm that could be somewhat difficult.

You need to search for the code where the signature is placed into every posting, create a div container that is positioned via css to the right and wrap it in a condition that it only shows in the first post.

But depending on the text length of the first post this could end up in overlaying text from the original post.

So I don't think it is a very good idea to do so.

Why not? Do you think its possible, though? It can't be displayed after the 5th post the same way or?

Yes, you can modify my code to display after the 5th post.
    Just change the condition

put the ad in a div
    float it right

add a clearing element before the sig line.
