    Improving Adsense stats

    Hello, I am looking to improving overall stats for my website, HostCule - Free cPanel and Reseller Hosting

    Currently, I am using the inbuilt vBulletin ad manager to display ads with the high package:

    one medium advertisting unit under the navbar, one unit before the footer, and one unit for guests in the first post of a thread

    How could I further optimize these placements and ad-units to gain maximum throughput?

    Thanks

    1) i highly recommend DISABLING the vb adsense tool immediately. They make a profit off you for doing so and worse, they will have access to your advertising stats. there was a big stink about this when they first released it. Adding in the ads manually via the adlocation templates is just as easy, and you won't be a guinea pig for IB.

    2) I recommend 1 MAX 2 adsense units per page. Any more than that, and you simply have priced yourself out of making any moey. it's the way adwords works... the higher you bid, the higher up your ad shows.
    If you show 2 units, you have, for example clicks

    $1
    .80
    .70
    .60

    .50
    .30
    .10
    .08

    top to bottom on the 2 ads. by the time you get to the 3rd ad unit, it's not worth your out-click. of course, those figures are just examples, but thats how it works. You want a user if he's not going to stay on your site to click the #1 ad link in the #1 ad as a best case scenerio.

    I personally run 1 336x280 block next to another network under the nav bar, centered. I've tried just about every variation possible, and this way produces the best ctr, eCPM, and overall earnings.

    You can easily disasociate in AdSense Panel, but in any case, I've disabled them.

    I am testing them currently.

    It applies to any site. It's the way adwords bidding works. The higher the advertiser is willing to pay, the higher position their ad is shown (if at all, depending on competing bids, and their daily budget spend).

    Brian, this has had a rather adverse effect on everything, CTR + earnings and even clicks have gone down.... substantially.

    the 728 leaderboards don't perform well. Try to incorporate the 336x280 in there instead. put something next to it to fill the space.

    What's the best ad position? right or left side of those two blocks?

    Also, if I'll use a "welcome text" to fill the empty space, can I use VBSEO_VIRTUAL_HTML to wrap that text in?

    Code example...
    Code:
    <table border="0" width="682" align="center">
    <tr><td width="336">
    <!--VBSEO_VIRTUAL_HTML-->

    Welome text here

    <!--/VBSEO_VIRTUAL_HTML-->
    </td>
    <td width="13">&nbsp;</td>
    <td width="336">

    Ad code here

    </td></tr>
    </table>
