So what your saying then Brian, just run one advert unit on any page, for example in or near the header and kill all the other adsense units on the forums.

I think I average about 9 cents a click and on my static sites, some give more like $1. Now being greedy I would like a lot more of the $1 specials.

I'm going to set my forums up so guests can only see one skin, then kill the adverts on the other skins if this is the case

The way adwords (the media buyers) works is that the more they offer per click, the higher position their ad will be.

If you have 2 units, you are then serving up to 8 individual ads.

Which means, if someone clicks on the lowest (served last) ad link, they paid FAR less than the first one.

    position example per click:
    1 - $1.00
    2 - .80
    3 - .40
    4 - .20
    5 - .10
    6 - .08
    7 - .06
    8 - .04

    for example.

if you don't show 5-8, the odds are in your favor that you will get a higher paying click.

Thanks for the clear explanation of that

I implemented your recommendation about the bigger add blocks on another post the other day and can not believe the difference in earnings so far. This will just make things better

Is the suggestion, then, to run one ad block, or one text ad block and one image ad block? Thanks.

I have been running ad blocks like this but my earnings are still quite low :(

I really need to find another way to monetise it I think!

Best daily averages so far for me. My sites normally come to life mid month, this month have been good most days.

I get around 800-1200 unique visitors a day with around 9000-10000 page views.....yet i make around $10/week...LMAO....have no idea whats going on

I run 2 big blocks for guests and 1 728x90 for registered....have that on forumHome/forumDisplay.

On showthread i have 728x90 under first post and a small one top right of the thread

I have a few ads running from adsdaq with adsense as my backup.....(certain areas of my site...)

    Dunno what else to do

no niche, general forum....its focused more on music though....most of my traffic is US (around 75-80%)....

I read up on another one of ure posts, and have now removed all google ads for my members and left them with ads from adsdaq.....lets see if that helps....

I have a food site and I have seen my adsense go up a little. I average about 40 dollars a week right now. I am hoping all the places that can no longer afford to advertise on the big food sites will be looking for cheaper alternatives. Everyone has to eat, no matter what the prices are.

Hmm, many people are suffering from low cpc. I did so too. Thanks go to briansol, he had some good tips. I shared some of them in this post on vbseo. There are not so many ways of improving your Adsense CPC, but some can help - like removing all general content from your adsense pages: means: only show ads in content forums.
