Arrow Here are my stats; What are my revenue possibilities?

    Hi everyone.

I have a VBulletin forum that has been around for quite a while that has never really generated any revenue. I didn't create it for money and there aren't any ads whatsoever on the forum.

It has approximately 8000 members and around 400-500,000 posts.

It averages around 1,000,000 page-views a month and with the proper search engine friendly code I think we could do around 2-3,000,000 page-views a month as well as increase our membership. I don't know if it matters but we already rank #1 in google for a few main search phrases.

What are some reasonable revenue possibilities for a forum like this using VBseo?

    Thanks for your input.

vBSEO is not a monetization tool. Check into Google Adense or Yahoo's YPN ads if you want an easy way to monetize your site.

vBSEO helps you with search engine indexing and elimination of duplicate content, which, in the long run, could increase your revenue. But simply installing vBSEO will not monetize your site.

    Thanks for replying Keith.

I know vBSEO alone isn't a monetization tool in itself but I'm just trying to get an idea of what kind of revenue would be reasonable to expect using vBSEO in conjunction with other monetization tools like Adsense, affiliates, local advertisers, etc.

Like he said, do not count on vBSEO to increase your revenues. Just add Adsense or other ads and see what it does. Even if you add vBSEO the revenue willnot increase..

Do you mean the revenue will not increase without adding some sort of advertising program? I know that.

I'm just speaking in terms of how much additional traffic can I expect by installing vBSEO instead of a standard vBulletin installation?

BTW, my stats include many of my sub-forums being private and/or closed to unregistered visitors.

Thanks again for the input. Certainly I've got to be able to make some sort of decent revenue from a forum of this size.

It is possible that vBSEO may help boost the revenue you collect from whichever PPC network you use. In general, we have a feature to help make Google AdSense ads more targeted to the page content. Theory is that having ads more relevant to the content, should boost click through. This is the whole idea behind contextual advertising. We attempt to make it a little more accurate using a tagging mechanism provided by Google.

Another way that monetization can be boosted is by simply having more highly targeted visitors hit your page. No matter how relevant your ads are to the page content, if the visitor is not interested in that topic, they are unlikely to click your ads. So helping to boost the relevancy of your visitors, should (in theory) help to boost your ad click conversions.

Of course, the biggest way you'll benefit from increased revenue is simply by getting more traffic. Your conversion rate (i.e. what you do with the traffic) is another topic - but hugely important. You should search for AdSense ad optimization methods, etc. to help boost your conversion rates with existing traffic. You'll even find some related information on that here in our Member Articles forum.

In terms of how much traffic to expect, that's extremely difficult to determine. Results vary, and are often related quite highly to the niche your forum is in. Automotive sites, for instance, have a pretty good track record.

My best recommendation is to simply install vBSEO so that you'll have the peace of mind of knowing that you've at least covered the fundamentals of SEO. But, then, go about the business of general marketing to ensure better conversions. Some best practices for success include continually adding valuable new content, and link building.

    Hi,
It is difficult to say. Give us the URL of you Forum.
In General – A information Website generate a higher revenue than a Forum.
In a forum the Revenue comes from the Guest not from the members.

I have some Adsens in the Forum and I know that I make more Money than a similar Forum that has more post per Day than I.
Were is the Difference between the 2 Forums?
I have less post but the posts are more serious, they have more Information.
I found out that the revenue form Members it only high in the first 4 Weeks. Than the members already know the Advertisers and don’t click again. So I have now an Adsense Block in the Footer fore everybody but Adsense in the Header and between the Forums only for Guest.

For Guest that are interesting Information. That might increase the registration because Guest likes to get rid of the Ads.

So SEO might help because Guest find the Information in Google better than without SEO.
How high the revenue will be, depends highly one the Quality of the Information that your Forum offer and not on the number of posts.
And it its interesting what your Forum is about.
You might sign up for Adsense and Adwords (even if you don’t use is)
In Adword you have tools were you can see how high an Advertiser has to pay a Keyword.

    For Example:
In the description of one of you forums you have the sentence:
“This is about the cars of me and my Wife.”
And you find out that the keyword “Car” is more expensive than the Keyword “Cars”
Than you change the description to:
“This is about my car and the car of my wife.”

I think VBseo has option to replace keywords, it changes the keyword if you define them in acronym list

Money potential depends on a couple key things

    1) Guest to Member ratio (member's rarely click)
    2) guest traffic/uniques
    3) niche, and what potential the niche ads have
