    Google Sitemap Generator Help

    Hey,

I just bought and installed vBSEO for my site. I also downloaded and installed the vbseo sitemaps.

I'm trying to setup the google sitemap and i need the proper link to the sitemap to insert into google.

    it's supposed to be mysiteurl/sitemap.xml
but the link im being given from vbseo is mysiteurl/sitemap_index.xml.gz

from what im looking at on google, it needs to end in xml, not gz.

ok, now someone please tell me what i need to do.

The correct sitemap URL is: http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_index.xml.gz

Google supports gzip compression and it accepts sitemap_index.xml.gz as sitemap filename.

    ok nevermind.
i added another site to it, making it my forum's url instead of my main site's url and then added it and it worked.

    so retarded.

    You forums root is:
    Code:
    http://thehawaiicommunity.com/forum/
    so, sitemap URL is:
    Code:
    http://thehawaiicommunity.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml.gz

Also, looks like you've specified "Sitemap files URL" option to your domain root, while it's suggested to leave it empty:
Leave this setting empty to use default vB url.

Do not forget to regenerate the sitemap after emptying the mentioned option.

that still came back with a 404.
i went back to my admincp and looked around in the vbseo reports and stuff.
noticed on google it said something "sitemap_1.xml.gz" and so i found that in my acp and it said i have 474 urls, blah blah blah.

now i deleted the sitemap link on google and re-added it with THIS link and waiting to see what happens. i think it will be successful this time.

obviously im a noob on this vbseo.
