This will be very interesting if they really decide to go through with it. But, I think most will webmasters will just adapt.

    Thanks for sharing the link!

I think it will help to improve the quality of ads (i.e. greater relevance). Although, it's fantastic that savvy Web marketeers have found a such a way to create margins and profit, all loopholes will eventually be closed up. Wouldn't it be great if you could still spam a guestbook system and get #1 ranking in a month. That is... if you were a blackhat.

Shoemoney has a video up and has an interesting take on this. He thinks it will not happen to MFA sites and that it will be sites that have a low ROI for there Adword clients.

Although I think it's a fair practice given the current guidelines, it does reduce the quality of ad relevancy on Google and on partner sites.

Those margins that are created are taken from the actual vendors, who could do better and pay less, IF arbitrage was prevented.

At the end of the day, Google should be worrying more about the vendors than the arbitragers. Besides, they'll happily find the next exploit as soon as their revenue drops off.

So I suspect that by blocking them the quality of your ads increases. What was the impact? Better clickthroughs/higher revenue?

Or was it too hard to trace?

Blocking gave me a noticable rise in revenue. But it only lasted a few weeks as new junk sites filled up the ad space. I'd add them, get a boost, then it would taper off. Now my filter is maxed out, so I'm particularly stoked about this.

If this goes through as described (and it very well may not, as Shoemoney claims) I think ad quality will increase. No one minds good and useful ads, they only get ad blind when they get burnt once too often.
