Do you show ads to members?

    I'm not quite sure:
I've got a banner in the navbar that everybody sees.
And I got a postbit-ad in the footer of showthread, that is great ... but only showing to guests.

Should I show it to members also or do you mean, that this wouldn't be a good idea (few income and bad mood within members?)

It's entirely up to you. It also depends on how big your forums are.

A good idea is to show it too both members and guests, then give members the option to have the ads removed for a year by donating a certain amount.

    Regards Jason

Regular users get Ad-blind after a while and only contribute to thousands of ADs Impressions. This effect CTR and overall quality of Ads.
I recently removed ads for members. Now i get fewer but high paying clicks so the revenue has remained the same.

at least some ads i remove for members, along with noting that in my welcome image encouraging folks to register. also, with the topic of my own site, members are much less likely to click on many of the ads i tend to get, in addition to ad blindness.

I think an option you should all consider for testing is turning ads on for members on an off/on cycle. Possibility:

    - Every 10 page views, turn them on for 1 page view.
    - Every 3 logins to the forum (at least 1 day apart)
    - Every visit to a "subscribed thread" only.
    - On until they post. After they make their first post per login, ads are turned off.
    - 10 posts on, 10 posts off.

We know that ad relevancy is good. We know that positioning and formatting has a big impact. We know that a "change" gets attention and often causes ad clicks to experience a small boost after an ad move, or when first added.

What about testing some strategies that are a little more advanced than simply finding an optimum place to put the ads.

    Any other ideas?

Any willing to try out any of these strategies, or something similar?

FYI - A highly trafficked big board could put these all head to head by selecting a bunch of designated groups of members to see the different ad setups. Then by tracking with separate AdSense campaign IDs, we can get actual stats to see which scenario works best (if any).
