Any good tips for uping the revenue?

Seeing as a load of you guys seem to be on the ball with Adsense optimisation, thought it would be worth asking for a bit of help.

My site has around 27,000 visits a day (7000 unique) and 120,000 page views - what kind of Adsense revenue should I be expecting from this? Is $30 a day possible?

I currently have a leaderboard under the first and last posts (I tried removing the last post one, but the amount dropped dramatically) however I seem to be averaging around $11-$13 a day, unfortunately not covering the server's costs (not even half way )

Anyone have any useful tips for me to help me reach my goal?

with 7k uniques / day you can make about ~$70/day, although depends on a lot of stuff. Maybe if you'd give us your board url we could give you more info.

Ah forgot the address (though it's in my profile ) - fiatforum.com

Server costs are about $700 a month, but they host other sites and there is no leeway on reducing them.

So really hoping Adsense can be optimised in someway (without deteriorating the user experience - ie no popups etc) to bring in some extra cash!

Yeah just saw it in your profile. Well i think you should place some blocks on top that would raise your ctr.

Also try to exclude the mfa sites from your ads ( AdsBlackList.com - An initiative by Vision i.T Services ), that will raise your cpc.

A 336x280 ad under your random classifieds would probably do very well. If you don't have any CPM networks, I would probably put an affiliate ad beside it.

I would have that on forumdisplay and showthread at least.

If you put it on the forumhome, I would remove that welcome block.

In all honesty, you should be making $200-500 a day.
Your site is doing about 7x what my site does on everything but uniques, and i pull in at minimum $70 every day, and some days much more than that.

I never had luck with ads under the posts or at the end.

the best place has been under the nav bar.

    Wow ... really!

I really don't like those 336x280 blocks though, just so big and ugly and require a whole scroll just to get past them, or do you think these are the only serious ways to get money?

I could move my paid advertisers banner back into the "usual" header spot, move the login box down into the navbits bar and then have the current banner spot available where i could put a leaderboard style (without it moving anything out of place)

Or is this not going to be worth it? (as much as it would be good to make money, i dont think my users woudl appreciate having to scroll down so much - and it makes everything look nasty ...)

I use 336x280 ads under my navbar. I only run one adsense ad on the entire forum and so far today I have made $34.00+ on about 1400-1500 uniques. The block ads are the only way I have found to have a great CTR without tricking your users.

Ok - so it looks like to get serious I gotta do the blocks.

Do you have any distinction between registered and non?

For example, if i was to go with my above post of moving the banner block to the top and reformatting the navbits to go right under the links.

Now for guests have 1 of the 336 x 280 with a random 2x2 of my classifieds block next to it.
    Registered have a single leaderboard
    Donated nothing.

Is this likely to be a decent strategy do you think, or more a case of try it and see what works?

Cool - almost worked it all out now.

One more question, do you notice many click throughs from the main page?

I was thinking to just Adsense the Show Thread and Forum Display pages?

    Well - it's done

Let's see how this fares - you guys have given me a lot of faith .. just hope it comes off!

Might put the "After Last Post" on for guests after a few days, as now there is nothing at the bottom when they end a thread (so no exit point) - but we'll see.

    Thanks again!
