Adsense optimization tips

Hello guys,

My site is pretty new, and I am only getting around 300-400 unique visitors daily on my vbulletin forum. I think I do ok with adsense, of course, I am always looking to do better.

I just bought VBSEO yesterday, havent gotten the license yet, but I sure hope for an increase in traffic. My forums are loaded with keywords related to my site, and I am desperate for some traffic.

For some odd reason, past 5 days have been terrible,

I mostly have the ads in postbit and threadbit right now. Ads after every 5th reply, and after the last post. I just added leaderbord adsense to my guests only under the navbar, havent seen any increase yet, but its only been a day.

I also have a few ads on my homepage (not forum home) and throughout some articles I have, but most of my traffic is on the forum.

I am little scared of the large navbar ads, I just personally dont like them that large, but I would like to get something on my forum home area. I tried for an hour to add the 468x15 navbar ads, but everytime i put it in there, i keep getting page cannot be displayed, not sure why. Plus I heard this "could" be a TOS violation, not sure about that.

Thanks for taking time to look.

Will do Joe, actually alread did. I am beside myself right now, having record numbers (for me) from one ad placement.

2 days ago I added adsense right below the navbar (for guests only), and wow!! it really made a difference.

It has been off and on the past months, good days and bad days. BUT, The last 2 days have been great since adding ads to this spot, more than doubling my previous highest day.

I think you're doing pretty good to be honest. Adsense (and all ad services for that matter) are in the can this month. 1st quarter + recession = broke forum admins :(

Well, I wondered about that. I have been reading around on here about it being dead right now, and mine was for the last week or so. Until i put the navbar ad on, i had 4 days in a row of not much.

I still dont have much traffic either, but hope that vbseo is going to help that. today has only had 700 impressions, so Im getting a decent CPM. I cant wait to see how this goes with big traffic

Don't feel bad, i've been getting about 6 clicks a day and only averaging about 50 cents from them.

I'm not sure if its just crappy ads being displayed, or traffic quality or what thats doing it, but less then .10 a click is pretty horrendous

8% CTR is unheard of on forums. enjoy it while it lasts. lol

my adsense is way down as well, at about 1/4 of what it was running for the same level of traffic previously. there are a lot of variables in there so i can't attribute it 100% to the advertisers, but it seems to be in signficant part, yeah. i think the advertisers are simply scaling back because of concerns about the economy among other things, so you're getting lower paying ads.
