Adsense Layout Advice & Best Sizes

Hi Guys,

I am in need of advice on how to organize my advertising in order to influence better CTR and in turn better money. Currently, running adsense on my site is about a joke and quite honestly close to a waste of time.

On top of needing advice there, I was also wondering what you guys think/know are the best size banners to be using in order to gain the maximum payout on a per click basis?

I have read around and have yet to find any real advice other than to avoid the 468X60 banner size like the plague as there is allot less inventory for it.

I run a gaming site much like the big boys over at GH (GamersHell.com - Largest Independent VideoGaming Website (gh3d.com) - GamersHell.com) and currently have the most traffic to our download pages. As to say 90% of our traffic is coming purely to download a file and then move on.

That in itself is a problem, however I need to figure out a way to maximize revenue from it (I am open to anything).

Currently averaging 2K unique a day with us about to double that within the next week (new publisher will be using us as a download mirror).
