Ads under NAVBAR

This is a discussion on Ads under NAVBAR within the Ad Networks forums, part of the Monetizing category; 728x90 is the popular ad that goes under the navbar. Anybody experimented with two 468x60 ads in place of this?...

I haven't tried it, but it would wrap for 800x600 visitors (if anyone cares about 800x600 visitors anymore ).

1% of my userbase is still on 800x600.

perhaps you all remember my blog post that got dug to hell:
Is it Time to Abandon 800×600? - SkeyMedia

Those stats are on my blog site (and a techy blog at that) so they are obviously swayed.

on my honda site, its close to 15-20% of users still on 800x600.

    The web is changing.

cell phones, blackberry's, pda's, 30" hdtv monitors, widescreen displays, and everything else show in various sizes from 200 to 4000 pixels wide.

using proper style sheet media declarations, (eg, <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" media="handheld" /> ) you can feed your users on portable devices a nice version of your site....

ohh wait, vbulletin's skin would be a nightmare........

    vbstandard will fix these issues.
there will be seperate css sheets for the following:
    screen/projection
    handheld
print (thus, elminating printhread.php in its entirety)
thus, giving each its own best display method and ease of use.

I can't wait to finish that thing up :P

My results: 0 clicks for an entire week on the site I tried this on.

This little test cost me big time.

    My advice: Dont do it.

Going back to when I was running a 728 there, it was around 40-50 clicks per day average on that site from that location. Since then, I had transitioned to running dual 336 ads there for a while which increased ctr, but I just didn't like the look of it. From there it was the 300x250 in the first post (I removed ads under the navbar during this time) I have no idea why, but the dual 468 ads were a complete disaster.

I can't decide right now whether to keep the 728 or go back to the 300 in the first post.
