    first off, I'd remove the "powered by vbulletin"

    Try adding keywords into the forum descriptions

    i.e. instead of "This forum is for discussion of the band." try "This forum is for discussion of Lacuna Coil"

    Maybe add some text or welcome headers at the top of the page as well

    dude, disable that "users in past 24 hours" crap. you have like 312424234324 URLs on your home page. google suggests a max of 100 per page.

    I agree that the "users in past 24 hours" increase the linkcount dramatically...but I do agree with AngelsPunishment that it makes the web site look more active. Maybe it's because I feel that more people will join if it seems like the web site has a good list of returning members.

    well then at least make sure you have the rel=nofollow tag attached the the member profile links

    If you still have that problem,try disabling the 'Adsense Section Targeting' for a day or two.
