    Add Units vs Link Units

Wondered what the more experienced adsense guru's opinions were of this?

from all the reading i've been doing the best way to make money on adsense is modify your adds to look like their part of your site as people are more likely to click on them if they think it's part of your site,

on forums i see that most people are using 468x15 link units above or below the navbar, which looks a lot better than any of the add units, but on link units people need to click twice so does it actually make more money than an ad unit at the end of the day?

I've never had any luck with link ad units. i ran them on and off for 6 months, but haven't run them in close to 2 years due to lack of performance.

Which add type and size would you recommend for the navbar/header area?

I'm not trying to become a millionaire or anything, i just want to make enough to cover my server costs, renew my vbulletin licence, and pay for any premium mods i use.

300x250's have been the best performing ad unit for me.

Well it looks as if link units still suck..... i tested them below my nav bar for 24 hours yesterday and got £0.82 for 48 clicks
compared to £2.60 for the text add unit located after the first thread of every post with 12 clicks.... looks as if the link units pay a lot less than the add units per click

I have a link unit integrated INTO my navbar (see here: Patientenfragen.net - we have the answers) and it is the 4th best performing ad unit on my forum.

I personally don't like adding the unit above or below the navigation.
