    You can serve your own ads if your site is popular enough to attract advertisers directly. Check out OpenX for a good, free ad server.
    I'm using vbSEO for my precious metals forum.

    hmm what alexa rank would be good for making ur own ads

    mine is 1.7m but i was like 3m but thanks to vbseo my rank is going up my site is 2 month old i think 1.7m is good for 2 month old site XD

    I don't think Alexa is a suitable measuring stick. It really depends upon the niche you are in and how well positioned you are in it (SERPs, IBLs from other high profile sites, etc.). I have one site that is well positioned in a narrow niche and advertisers approach me all the time (Alexa rank 1,063,597). I have some other sites that are not so well positioned yet and I still get occasional inquiries about advertising.
    I'm using vbSEO for my precious metals forum.

    well i tried google they are bad (very slow reply and take ages to solve a problem) i also tried adbrite they are good but don't pay well

    now I'm using adengage they are the best i tried the account is made as the same time (not like google i waited like 6 months) and they pay very good also let you chose your own price and they pay you via paypal, wire transfer etc.

    Edit: the bad thing in adengage that the ads are ugly
