I tried that placement for a while, but I had it floated to the right at the top of the first and last posts of a thread.

yeah, but up there it messes with the content some... and people complain. where I have it, its out of the way, and if there's attachments or 2nd posts, they read right past it. I think its the most un-obtrusive spot, without going to 'in between' posts.

But think about the disadvantage Brian. If i browse around a board and find adsense in posts i directly close that forum and never visit it at all. I know tons of people are doing the same. I really get disturb when content and add are mixed like this. It looks like a money trap board.

to be perfectly honest, i don't care. lol the site is plenty active, and if this produces more income, then its staying. so far it is proving very profitable.

just pulled up some stats... i didn't add this until about 6pm est, and google just reset here, 3am estern... in those 9 hours (call it 8) X 3 = 24 hours, this move is going to net me about 1000 a month extra income. Assuming of course, it keeps up and the averages stay. i'll need to give it a few more days of testing to see its true value.

in the end, if its profitable, its staying. 90% of my guests comes from google, and have a 1.2 page view stay. they rarely stay anyway. might as well exit through an ad

I have ads in the first post of each page, floated to the top-left of the post.

I still see many registrations and posting activity...and the occasioan click too.

Just curious on how to gets ads to show up there? Im not using google adsense tho, but where would I put the ad code? I know vbseo has the google adsense feature but ive not used it because im not sure if it works with anything else.

For a money trap board it may works fine, but I would never do that on my board as the user experience is bad and my regular customerbase for sure would dislike the board. And annoying popups, I think AdSense TOS says you can not have ads on pages with popups either. (I may be wrong)
