    Monthly emails from vbseo.com

    Hey there,

Thanks for the monthly updates, but I prefer to not receive any of those emails. I get it that you guys mail out that affiliate payments have been paid, but I already get those notifications from paypal themselve, plus I don't need an overview when I have made 0 sales. All i get from the mail is: we paid you! (and have paid nothing because i made 0 sales) and then 75% of the mail is filled with advertisements of vbseo to get me to buy that. My mail program keeps triggering these mails as spam. I spend a few minutes double checking everything and wasting my time.

COuld you please at least not send out these affiliate mails every month if there haven't been made any sales?

    Let's break this down.

    Here's the e-mail.

    Dear conqsoft,
All commissions for vBSEO Affiliates for November 2006 have been sent via PayPal.
    vBSEO Affiliate Program Quick Facts:
    - Our top affiliate with more than 100 unique clicks, has a conversion rate of 4.25%!
    - Our top converting banner is banner #4 (468x60).
    - Due in large part to our 365 day referral tracking, many affiliates are seeing their monthly commissions grow significantly.
    - vBSEO 3.0 GOLD release is in the final stages, and presents an excellent opportunity for early bird affiliates to notify their website users and earn commissions from their referrals.

The e-mail is sent to keep you informed of the affiliate program. Knowing which banner is doing the best seems like something that an affiliate would want to know. (Especially if you have 0 sales.)

    You said:
then 75% of the mail is filled with advertisements of vbseo to get me to buy that.
How did you come up with 75%? I see one line that tells you about an upcoming version of vBSEO that is due out soon; as an affiliate, you SHOULD be concerned about so that you can promote it. That isn't asking you to purchase it though.

So that brings us to a single link to the purchase page. I don't think that one link constitutes anywhere near 75% of the total e-mail.

    Floris,

Our system does not have a structure in place to distinguish at the moment. You could consider chaning your email for the time being.

We'll consider this as an upgrade option in the future, but I prefer having affiliates receive our communications.

Which email client do you use? Would setting up an inbox filter be an option for you?

Most affiliate programs send out emails to remind affiliates that:

    • They are member
    • New promotions
    • Tips to improve their sales
It takes all of ten seconds to delete the email if you don't want it, or you could easily setup a rule / filter in your MUA to hide the mail

As an affiliate I absolutely DO want to receive these emails. ALL of them. I hope you don't change it.
NO email I've ever received has contained anywhere near 75% advertisements.

If you don't want the email.... click your delete button!

Well, if i let my dog shit in your yard, and you don't like that, you are okay if i say: Just clean it up, it's not my problem?

Maybe it's nice to have an option to opt-in or out of the monthly mailing...
I think that would solve this problem.

Affiliates are required to receive email updates in order to participate in our program. The frequency of emails is very low.

For those of you who are absolutely insistent upon not receiving them, my best recommendation is using a rules filter such as the feature provided by Outlook to automatically file them into a separate folder.
