Google Now Supports Meta NOODP Tag (Open Directory Project)

Meta NOODP Tag Tells Google Not to Use Open Directory Project (ODP) Description for Your Site in Google Search Results

Google will use the ODP descriptions to use as the snippet for your site in their search results. To prevent this from occurring, you can use the Meta NOODP tag for Google and/or other engines:

HTML Code:
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOODP">
<META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOODP">
Notes on vBSEO
  • vBSEO's Relevant Replacement text, when positioned strategically, can help to ensure that the snippet Google uses for your pages in the search results is more accurate.
For Discussion
  • Is your site listed in the Open Directory Project at ODP - Open Directory Project
  • Is your DMOZ site description accurate? Does it contain related keywords?
  • Will you use the Meta NOODP tag on your site? What is the benefit?

Hm, good to know we have that option now, however I'm quite happy with the description used.

Between <head> and </head> tags. Other way this would have no effect on your site. Some skins have it on diff templates, most of them under headinclude.
