Yeah, I thought it was pretty easy. I tried both, but due to wanting to run APC, then XCache, I went with IonCube since it didn't conflict with either of those cachers.

Forget eAcellerator. xcache is far better and works with Ioncube.

I am on cPanel with RH Enterprise. I pay to have my server managed, so I'm looking to tell my tech guy exactly what to install to help speed up my vBSEO enabled vB.

Is it true I can install Ioncube and either Xcache or eaccelerator? Is there an official recommendation out there somewhere?

Yes it is true, IonCube will work with xcache, apc, or eaccelerator. I think eaccelerator works with zend, but I'm I'm not sure as I never used eA.

OK, now for the 64 million dollar question. Which one is the best choice? vBulletin/vBSEO/PHP5 on cPaneled RH Enterprise. IonCube with: Xcache or APC or Eaccelerator?

I am using APC with Ioncube. Right now APC does fine. When the forum gets more active and the load starts creeping up I will switch over to xcache to see if it helps.

Just a question i just ran the test script and it gave me the green tick for both zend and ioncube but then down the bottom it says this

The software should install on your server with no server changes needed.
You should download and install the Zend Encoded version of the software.

Why is it saying you should install zend and not saying you have the choice or something. because everyone in this thread is saying ioncube is better, but on the test page its like your saying zend is better.

    im confused lol.

ps: I just upgraded to ioncube, seems to have gone fine. Is there anywhere i can check to see if im running vbseo ioncube or zend? or is that not possible, thanks.

you can check the file sizes on your host and compare them to the files in ioncube package of vBSEO .

I'm as confused as hornstar. If ioncube is so much better, why does my test.php tell me to use the Zend version?

And what's involved in moving from the Zend version to the ioncube version, assuming build version is the same?

you can swap out if your host supports both.
the files are the exact same, just encrypted differently.

re-upload the new package, and import the new product allowing over-write, visiti vbseocp.php to save your license key and double check your settings, and you're done.

So I download the ioncube zip, then upload 100% of it (in binary mode)? Do I need to export and import settings?

And I still would like to know why test.php recommends the zend version. I don't want to do this if the zend version is actually better for my system.
