In my case it redirects you back to http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum/index.php

Is the index.php part necessary? Can it not send you back to just http://www.mustangevolution.com/forum ?

If you have index.php in the "Define Homepage Aliases" section of vbSEO, it should send you back the URL without the index.php on the end. (Does on mine.)
