Vbulletin Forum acting as a Link - Problems

I have a few forums within my main forum index acting as a link/url direct only (no posts). You can do this within vbulletin when you specify a link upon creating a particular forum.

The problem I am having is the way vbseo is converting these urls.

For example: Under within the admin panel under FORUM LINK I have entered "http://website.com/pictures"
which actually directs to a vba gallery.

However, when I look to see what URL vbseo has converted it to (within the browser), it becomes "http://www.website.com/forums/horse-pictures-gallery/" which is then redirected to the appropriate page. Apparently vbseo is grabbing the forum link title, which is "horse pictures gallery" and using that as the URL.

I just want it to direct to the proper URL without changing it. Vbulletin itself doesn't even do that, it uses some sort of redirect which vbseo has further played with.

Any help/suggestions or chance to get this changed in another version?

thanks - vissa

Not sure why it would do that... It works on mine:

(Two at the very bottom are forum links.)

Actually yours is doing the same thing! Just look at the link at the bottom of your browser when you hover over those forum links. They are being redirected so they are not direct links. It still goes to the right place, but it would be much better to simply be direct.

It has always pointed to the forum though, with the f=ID# at the end. Then vBulletin does the redirect.

Yes but this is not much (if any) better than what vbulletin was doing before. Honestly I don't get why it just doesn't link straight to the URL you tell it. I think vbseo could do that as an improvement which will help transfer PR properly.

Re: Vbulletin Forum acting as a Link - Problems

You know? I was thinking on this as we are encountering that issue right now with the default 301 redirect method that points to our vBulletin Resources page.

I'll look into this further as a possible enhancement (or plugin).

Thanks for the suggestion.
