Technorati Tags

I noticed that Technorati is picking up my forum's posts.

Would it make sense to have some kind of auto-tagging tool?

I'd say first it would eliminate common words using a dictionary.

Then look for the most commonly recurring words e.g. if Vista appears four times in the post and nothing else occurred that many times it would be a tag.

Then it would just choose words by length.

I think there is some Wordpress auto-tagging algorithm but I don't know how it works.

Anyway, would it make sense to have something like this for vBulletin and would it be appropriate for it to be in vBSEO?

There has been a lot of discussion concerning the implementation of a tagging system for vBSEO usage. However, at this time I am not sure how far along it has gotten (beyond the discussion) I personally believe and have believed for years now, that such a system is a greatly needed necessity for professional forum software.

I also believe that we will either see it from the great developers here or possibly even from Jelsoft themselves...in the next few months. While the zoints tagging system is nice...it isn't the best way to implement such a system and it does have several well known flaws / bugs.

Knowing Juan these past year now, I would have to say if it does become a feature of vBSEO then it will be a professional leveled system. One that may or may not come with an auto tagging system - you can bet it would come with a pinging system for Technorati & other such places. They have given me a lot of traffic when I simply add tags in manually.

Has anything come of this?

Pinging technorati works perfectly, but being able to tag would be really cool
