Send 404 codes for deleted threads.

This is must have feature for vbulletin (but not present in stock code) I have seen people requesting for same on vb forums but not yet implemented, I would love to see this feature on new gold version.

Thank You.

vBSEO Gold is being tested by pre release team and it will be release pretty soon , so i don't think developers are planning to add any more features for Gold. However i also think that option is already implemented. If you use a 404 page , the deleted pages will already send 404 message.

If you delete a thread, thereby making it no longer available, and use a 404 (not 'redirect to homepage'), it will 404.

In your vBSEO Control Panel, for 404 handling, change it to Send 404 instead of redirecting to the Forum Home. You can also specify a custom 404 page.

But that still won't send a 404 for deleted threads, since you will get this message for deleted threads:

Quote:

Invalid Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

So, a feature would have to be added to vBulletin or vBSEO to send 404's for deleted threads.

Ahh yes, my mistake.

It has been requested here 404 Errors for invalid threads - vBulletin Community Forum (quite a long thread too.)

Is there any other ways to redirect it or pass a 404?

This is implemented in vBSEO3.1.0 - 404 HTTP error code is sent and normal vBulletin message page is displayed.
