    Question Rewriting text within posts

    Hi,

I'm not sure about the possibilities the http rewrite engine offers, but I am wondering if there is a chance to implement the following feature in vbseo:

A lot of people are posting links to amazon goods or ebay auctions/shops. It is possible to put an affiliate-string into the link, to gain some revenues from users buying at amazon / bidding at ebay. Therefore, I've seen some hacks at vb.org for vb 3.0.x (here and here).
So the question is, is that maybe more easily possible to do, by adding certain functionality to vbseo? Simply rewriting the URLs with the affiliate link?

    Regards,

    Sebastian

    Juan,
Just for the record, if you consider doing this, feel free to snag any of my code from those mods to use.

Hi Everyone, I would also like to see this with the Ebay affiliate code. Given the nature of the vBSEO program (URL rewrite) it seems this program could do this quite easily. It would be nice to be able to simply input your affiliate ID code, and let the plugin do the rest. So how about it crawlabilty, inc.?? as someone who purchased the program, and from someone that can attest to how fantastic the program has worked so far on my forum, I think it would add a great feature to an already great app!

Yes, I'm aware of these plugins. I was inquiring about having this feature built into vBSEO. Since its primary job is re-writing URL's, doing something like adding a few bits of defined code to any Ebay link seems like it would be easy to code into the program.

Yes, I'm also aware of what the primary role of VBSEO is I wasn't suggesting otherwise..also a new plugin wouldn't be necessary. All it would take is a modification to the existing re-write programming..i.e..search for EBay URL, when EBay URL is found, add member specific data to URL and post along with all the other re-written URLs when they are posted.
