Is there a reason this is done? I was listening to the interview of Matt Cutts that's posted in the forum here, and he said essentially you want to avoid that on internal links when possible.

If you don't want the pages indexed then that is what the rel="nofollow" is about It won't hurt you. Can only help you get the appropriate pages in their index. If everyone listened to Matt Cutts and followed every bit of advice no one would have an advantage in Google over the other right? I don't listen to Matt Cutts and think his blog is pretty much crap. It's good for only one thing and that is keeping updated on new Google features. The information he lets out is nothing new. |
