Highlighted text - another url

The variable 'highlight' comes in from the search results, and can be a url that people copy and paste into links. And Google has cached a copy of such a url on my forum! bla!.

I suggest that the variable be sensed, a cookie set for that page (set to expire immediately), and then the page be redirected to the correct url with the highlight being set by the cookie. Should be easily doable.

by redirecting users to a clean URL (without "?highlight=" part) we will disallow them to post links to a pages with highlighting some specific words, which is desirable in some cases.

But this issue is addressed in a new vBSEO release: when SE bot finds "..?highlight=xx" link, it will be redirected to a clean URL.

In this way the forums will both keep full functionality and avoid duplicate content being indexed.

So how will the functionality be kept when there is no highlight in the url?

The redirect will be in place for the bots only. Usual visitors will see highlight in url and will be able to link to forums using this url.
