Thumbs up GoogleTagged - vBulletin - vBSEO version

Very cool feature:

Quote:
Introduction
Every time a visitor is brought to a topic by a major search engine (Google/Yahoo/MSN/Ask/AOL/AllTheWeb), this modification grabs the search terms that were used and stores them.

Eg A visitor may have just searched for 'harry potter'. If the visitor then clicked on a link to a topic on your forum, that url is often passed to the forum. eg harry potter - Google Search
The script then grabs 'harry potter' and stores them as tags.

A random selection of each topics tags are shown at the bottom each topic. The more visitors who are brought to the topic by the same search terms, the more hits each tag gets, the larger it appears. Tags which the match those of the visiting users search are also shown in a different color.
GoogleTagged

I think this is something vbseo should add.

Example site.
http://www.planetricki.com/2/apps/ya...?action=tagged

If vBSEO forums had GoogleTagged installed, somebody searching for "vbulletin googletagged" at Google would have found this page and GoogleTagged would have added "vbulletin googletagged" as a new tag to this page. Great for SEO IMO.

I personally think this is not a usefull option. This will increase the number of links on forumdisplay page therefore it will be harder for SE's to focus on content.

Well, vBSEO has an option to display forum archive links in the footer and most of the big forums have 100+ forums. If they don't hurt SE's, this won't hurt either. There is also an option to limit the link count and i think using the exact search terms as links makes more sense than using "1 2 3 4 5"....

Finally, you can disable "search cloud" for 'forumdisplay'.

We strongly advise boards running more then 50 forums to disable footer archieve links.

Setting "search cloud" to 50 search terms will do the same. It's simple for now but search terms may be assigned per forum/per thread... That way it'll be same with vBSEO 3.5.0's forthcoming feature.

Not good again. Since Google advices maximum 100 links on a page. More then 100 links will show your site as a spammer site and it will cause your board get low rankings on SE's.

Then "Footer Archive Links" feature of vBSEO is totally useless and must be disabled no matter if your forum is a big board or not? Because %80-90 of the forums which care their SEO have 50+ forums.

If it's perfectly fine enabling the "Footer Archive Links" of a forum site with less than 50 forums, you can enable "search cloud" with 50 search terms, too. I really don't understand your point.

If you are talking about keeping followed links less than 100 links per page, well it affects footer archive links, too. ...and they should never be enabled.

Zoints Thread Tags have "forumdisplay tag cloud", vbseo has footer archive links...

This site has 300 followed links and doesn't seem a spam site:
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/

http://www.vbseo.com/forums/ has 570 followed links.

I think "100 links rule" doesn't relly apply for the forum sites...

Google doesn't judge sites if they are forum or not. Everysite has same value within SE's and they have no technology to judge a site if it is a forum or not. vBSEO has "nofollow" for all usernames at whois visited forum today and personally if i was the decision maker i'd disable that option immediately. Adding a feature you request and add nofollow links has no meaning at all It is up to you to use a feature or not. I cannot say don't use it but my opinion is that feature will decrease your sites rankings.

I'm discussing about "max 100 links per page" issue. All big forum sites have 250-750 forum links at their forumhome and there is no way to decrease them because they are all forums. I don't think Google pays too much attention to "max 100 links per page" issue. It still may be a suggestion though. There are even famous web sites with 500-1000 links (tags) included in their single pages. Anyway, i set my "search cloud" keyword limit to 50 for now and will see how it'll go with Google...
