    Exclamation Banned from Digg

My site got banned from Digg for spamming (and its permanent) Apparently the members/visitors of my site submitted awful lot to Digg.

Showing the Linkback Menu/Icons to all the visitors is not a great idea, people submit just out of curiosity.
Make it a per usergroup setting.
Those who can do this by template modification, I will highly recommend doing it.

We'll look into controls that pertain to configurable member eligibility or submission throttling, etc.

Can you tell us about how many links were submitted before it happened?

Well, even if the icons are restricted per usergroup, there's absolutely nothing preventing people from submitting Digg stories that use a thread on your forum as the link..

Are we talking like 30 submissions for the same thread, or.. were they spread out?

You can't submit the same thread 30 times that I am aware of.

It should probably just be in the thread tools and first post. No need to have it in every single post. It must have been 30 in 30 seconds or something. There are a million blogs out there with Digg buttons so I find it odd.

I can't see any reason to mess with making this conditional when tons of blogs have the buttons where anybody can submit.

From my limited experience with Digg, I think it stops you from submitting a URL that has already been submitted. That has been the case for me at times when I have tried to Digg one of our threads and someone else has already done it.

What may be happening, is your site members ganging up on the thread and voting for it. If you have the same people voting for stories from the same site all the time, that will get caught. I found out that the hard way at Netscape.

I do think that the icons should be limited to the first post, not in every post, however, or at least give us that option. I say that, not in fear of getting banne from Digg, but from a looks standpoint. I like having the option there, but I don't like seeing it in every post of a thread.
