Why not use the standard vBulletin Replacements for this?

If you go into your vbulletin admincp, under Styles and Templates choose Replacement Variable Manager. Then for the style you wish to create the replacement for (or the parent style if you want it for all styles) click Add new Replacement Variable. There, you can type in the text you want to replace (i.e. SEO ebook) and what you want it replaced with (i.e. SEO ebook). |

But that's only for the templates I believe? I want to replace what members post in their posts.

Actually Replacement Variables is for what members post, and will not change anything coded into the templates. It basically works like the censored words option, but you get to enter what you want replaced, and what you want it replaced with.

I just tried it and it works! Only problem is that it does add the url for words in thread titles also and they don't work then. So what I need is a hack so that vb does not change words in the thread title |

Hummm, not sure how to get around that, I wasn't aware that it would modify thread titles. As I understand the vbseo feature, it changes everything on the page, not just post content.

Bump, can this be included in 3.0.1? |

To further this idea I would like the ability to manage all the out bound links present in the forum posts. So for instance if someone typed a link to ebay.com or any commerce site I could possibly replace the link with a referral link. We have thousands of out-bound links going everywhere and many are to commerce sites. It's time to take advantage of the possible revenue one can generate from these links. |

| vbseo is not vb$eo changing affilate links really has nothing to do with seo aspects, and frankly, i think its out of the scope of the vbseo porject. |
