So this morning I decided to check and see how my 404 pages worked (should have done this a long time ago) and I discovered that my 404 page was a simple 1 line "Page Not Found" document. No theme, no navigation, nothing but those 3 horrific words.

20.1% of all my traffic resulted in 404's...

And even worse, after looking at Awstats I discovered 20.1% of all of of the HTTP requests to The Recognized Expert Marketing Show resulted in a 404 Page Not Found status. ...

Thinking about adding this to one of my sites. I figured I'd wander over here and check it out.

FACTS:

• PageRank Withdrawal Syndrome (PWS): You see many people asking how to increase their Google PageRank, with an expressed urgency that shows they firmly believe it to still be the ultimate SEO factor.
• Insider Wrathyopia (i.e. Anger + Near Sightedness): You see a lot of SEO insiders dismiss it as worthless, and then tell you to just build links.

Well - as it turns out, Google's Visible Toolbar PageRank is *NOT* as important as you might think. It's also *NOT* completely useless! ...
