vBSEO, a quick overview of my history with the product.

Posted 08-31-2007 at 06:22 PM by Mike
vBSEO has evolved into a great SEO tool for vbulletin over the past two years, and for the general public, you tend to either love it or hate it.

From what I have seen, those who hate it are generally against encrypted software, or they haven't spent enough time with the support staff to work out the bugs that might cause their site to slow down after installation. In most cases I have witnessed, any slowdown that happens after a vBSEO installation is related to server settings, not the software itself.

I started using this software in 2005, shortly after the product became available. Like most new businesses, there were bumps along the road. It didn't help things at all here to have google do a major update (the infamous Jagger update), which created problems for many sites, shortly after vBSEO came on the scene.

At the time, I had one website, that was doing pretty well. I decided to install vBSEO, seen improvements from it, then everything crumbled around me. My site virtually disappeared from google, traffic went to near zero in terms of search engine referrals, and I did what any respectable webmaster would do. I looked for someone other than myself to blame. I chose vBSEO. I was convinced that vBSEO messed up my site, fully blamed them for it, and took the software off of my site.

After a few months, and plenty investigation and learning on my part, I come to the realization that vBSEO wasn't to blame for my troubles, instead it was related to the Jagger update, and mistakes that I had made.

I came crawling back, and was very impressed to find that the staff here was completely professional and welcomed me back and helped me as much or more than ever to get me set back up.

A little over a year later, and I find myself very thankful that I gave this software another chance, and I am now the happy owner of 5 licenses, and thanks to vBSEO, also the owner of some very successful websites.
